This Privacy Policy describes how Carve App, Inc. ("Carve," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares personal information when you use the Carve. mobile application and related services (the "Services").The short version: we collect what we need to build your career trails and run the app — your name, email, and resume information — and we don't sell your data. Full details below.
When you create an account and use Carve., you provide us with:
Your name and email address
Resume information, including work history, education, and career background
Onboarding assessment responses (career values, preferences, goals)
Journal entries and reflections you submit through "The Drop"
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information such as race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or health data.
When you use the Services, we automatically collect certain technical information, including your device type, operating system, IP address, general location, and how you interact with the app (features used, session activity, error logs). This helps us maintain security, fix bugs, and understand how the Service is used.
If you enable notifications, we send you updates about your trails, weekly check-ins, and milestones. You can turn these off anytime in your device settings.
We process your information to:
Create and maintain your account
Generate your personalized career trails and job recommendations
Respond to your questions and provide support
Send you service-related communications and, where relevant, product updates
Improve the Service and understand usage trends
Protect the Service against fraud and misuse
Comply with legal obligations
Carve.'s core features — including trail generation and personalized recommendations — are powered by AI, provided through our third-party AI service provider, Anthropic. Your resume and assessment responses are shared with Anthropic solely to generate your personalized trails and related content. This processing is governed by Anthropic's own data handling terms in addition to this Policy.
Job listings shown in the app come from third-party job data providers, including Adzuna. We share limited information (such as your general location, experience level, and resume-derived search terms) with these providers to retrieve relevant listings. We do not share your full resume or assessment responses with job data providers.
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it only in these situations:
Service providers — companies that help us operate Carve., such as our database host (Supabase), AI provider (Anthropic), and job data provider (Adzuna), each under a contract limiting their use of your data
Business transfers — if Carve. is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction
Legal compliance — if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights and safety of Carve. or others
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently remove your resume data, assessment responses, and generated trails from our active systems.
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Carve. is intended for users 16 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we learn that a user under 13 has provided personal information, we will delete it.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under applicable state privacy laws (including California, Colorado, Connecticut, and others), which can include the right to:
Know what personal information we hold about you
Access or obtain a copy of your personal information
Correct inaccuracies in your personal information
Request deletion of your personal information
Opt out of certain uses of your personal information
You can exercise these rights, or delete your account entirely, directly from the Profile section of the app, or by emailing [email protected].
Our Services do not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals, as no unified industry standard for these signals has been established.
We may update this Privacy Policy as Carve. evolves. We'll update the date at the top of this page, and where changes are material, we'll notify you directly through the app.
